About Sam and Steve
Hello! We are Samantha (Sam) and Steve Vaughan and we are professional wedding photographers based in Bicester, Oxfordshire. We have been photographing weddings since 2008, typically photographing around 30 weddings per year. We are well known and respected by the wedding industry and community in Oxfordshire and Thames Valley, and have photographed at most of the well known and highly regarding wedding venues in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and further afield. We have won a number of awards, including the Guides for Brides Wedding Photographers of the Year in 2019 and 2020. Our approach is broadly that of documentary wedding photography, and most of our couples tend to be those who are nervous about having their photograph taken. We never forget its your wedding day, and not our photo shoot!
We produce a monthly podcast, the Sam and Steve Podcast, which is available on all the main podcast applications. Light hearted in nature, the podcast features regular guest interviews from other wedding suppliers in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties. You can catch up on previous episodes here.
We are blessed to have 5 grown up children from our previous marriages, and two working cocker spaniels, Poppy and Billy.
Sam
Sam has the eye of the artist, and is an accomplished pencil sketcher of pets. She spots the special moment; the reflection in the hub cap, the tear in the brides father eye, the kids playing quietly. She loves her two cocker spaniels, walking in the country and good red wine. She also loves Strictly, Masterchef and Bake Off. She hates heavy metal music. On the wedding day, Sam always photographs bridal preparation. Sometimes, you just need a female photographer then……she has also helped brides into their dresses, taken them to the loo, and bustled their dresses for dancing. She was called a “wedding fairy” recently by a grateful bride! Sam will do whatever she can on the day to help make the day go as smoothly as possible.
Steve
Steve is the technical half of the team. Steve loves new cameras, lenses and software. He also loves great craft beer, hot curry and classic rock. He hates asparagus and cooking programs. Typically, for a bride and groom wedding, Steve starts the wedding day with the guys getting ready. He has been to pubs for a fry up with the guys, clay pigeon shooting, Turkish barbers and even on the golf course. Steve tends to photograph the ceremony from the front, with Sam from behind. Steve’s favourite part of the day is the dance floor partying, where he can get a little involved! Steve is also a business and sales coach, applying the skills he learned in his previous life in corporate sales. Steve was awarded the Wedding Photographer of the Year award in 2019, in a competition jointly awarded by Photography News magazine, Fujifilm, and Loxley Colour, the award winning print and album manufacturer based in Glasgow.
